- Click the New File or New Folder button at the top of the page.
- In the pop-up box, enter the name of the newly created file or folder. Files will have a name and extension separated by a dot, but folders have only the one name. Files without an extension will be rendered as as generic text document.
- Click the Create New File or Create New Folder button.
Remove a File or Folder
- Login to cPanel and click File Manager.
- Choose to open Web Root and Show hidden files.
- Click and highlight the file or folder you want to remove in the File Listing.
- From the top Toolbar, click Delete.
- Click the Delete File(s) button on the pop-up box to confirm your action.
Edit a File
- Login to cPanel and click File Manager.
- Choose to open Web Root and Show hidden files.
- Locate the file you want to edit in the File Listing; then click and highlight the file.
- Choose one of the three following editors from the top Toolbar:
- Edit - This editor will edit a document as plain text.
- Code Edit - This editor will edit a document as code, and will give line numbers down the side of the editor. You can also color code your code by using the syntax drop-down menu and selecting the code you are working with.
- HTML Editor - This editor will edit a document as an html document. In this editor, you can also switch between a design view (as a text document), a source view (through the html code itself), or a Preview mode (view the page through the web) by selecting the appropriate tab in the bottom left of the editor.
- Once you have selected the editor you would like to use, click Edit from the pop-up window to open the editor in a new window.
- Once you are done editing your document, don't forget to click Save Changes before closing the editor.
